Yoga and mindfulness have changed my life so much I took voluntary redundancy in 2019 and started teaching professionally to share what I have learnt.
I spent 15 years in the pharmaceutical industry as a scientist and I'm fascinated by how the biology of the body and mind interact to create our experience - and how we use that!
I started learning yoga around 2003 for stress relief from my husband's chronic illness. To start with it was one of few places I could find peace. When my beloved yoga teacher retired people kept telling me I should start teaching. When the seventh person told me I actually started to wonder if I could. I completed Ayurvedic Yoga teacher training in 2019. In 2018 my workplace provided me a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course so I could offer guided meditations to stressed colleagues at lunch time. They recognise the huge weight of evidence that meditation improves focus and reduces stress.
I have a degree in environmental science and was parliamentary candidate for the Green Party in the Broxbourne constituency in 2017. I looked after my mother with Alzheimer's for three years and learned to be calm in the face of her distress and confusion.
